PIONEERING PHOTOGRAPHERS 1850-1900
in association with The British Library & SOAS
The Exhibition Content:
1840s
The 1850s were dominated by the work of amateurs who struggled to introduce the medium into the subcontinent, and who attempted to adapt photographic techniques and procedures to often difficult working conditions. Work from this early period is extremely rare and few of the early daguerreotypes and other images on display have previously been exhibited.
