A photographic exhibition by the Sights of Light Group
This is the first exhibition by the Sights of Light Group in the U.K.
The focus of the exhibition is to explore the old and the new identity of Kuwait. The exhibition shows some of Kuwait's older traditions and handcrafts that still persist despite the overwhelming development and modernization that has taken place in different aspects of life alongside some of the newer landmarks that now represent Kuwait.
The Sights of Light Group was founded in late 2004 combining the experience and art vision of eight Kuwaiti photographers.
After the success of their first group exhibition which was held in the Museum of Modern Art in Kuwait March – April 2005 the journey continued by deciding to have two exhibitions per year one will be annual and the other a chance to present new horizons in contemporary art.
Those exhibitions along with publishing articles in different media and with workshops from time to time are all directed efforts to achieve the Group's goals of raising the level of artistic taste in
Kuwaiti society by using photographs as a mean of presenting life and expressions of thoughts in a fine art form with different fields of photography such as Landscapes, Fashion, Abstract, Portraits, Wildlife and Graphics.
Each of the photographers has participated in several group exhibitions and solo shows in Kuwait and abroad, the members of the Sights of Light Group that are the participating photographers in this exhibition are: Ghassan Burhameh; Mohammad Al-gallaf; Hanadi Al-salman; Fahad Al-shahman; Naser al-deen Asad; Yousef Khalifa and Abdullah Al-qahtani.
