About the Centre
The Gender & Religions Research Centre is based in the Department of the Study of Religions at SOAS and was established in September 2001. The aim of the Centre is to promote the cross-cultural study of gender and religion. To this end the Centre hosts a bi-monthly research seminar, runs special-interest and reading groups, offers courses in the area of gender theory and the study of religions, organises conferences, and undertakes research projects.
Future plans include the development of a peer-review journal, publication of further occasional papers and the establishment of a resource centre.
Members of the public as well as individuals from other academic establishments are very welcome to visit the Centre and to attend its programme of events. We also welcome visiting scholars and individuals wishing to undertake research in affiliation with the Centre.
We look forward to welcoming you!
