Fractional Staff Total Hours Contracts Decision Path for Employing Departments

  • Use this flowchart when appointing fractional staff to decide whether to combine all their hours/courses in one contract or whether several contracts of employment will be needed.

F1 Form Flowchart: A new contract for a new/existing member of staff

  • Follow this procedure to get a contract of employment issued to a fractional member of staff.

F2 Form flowchart: Market Rate Supplement Application process

  • This flowchart sets out the process for applying for a market rate supplement for a fractional teacher.

F3 form flowchart: Contract Variation process

  • Sets out the process for varying fractional teacher’s contracts of employment.  The flowchart should be used in the following situations:
    • Increase or decrease in hours of over 0.01FTE or more per term
    • Transfer from fixed-term to permanent status
    • Extension of fixed-term contract
    • Responsibility allowances
    • Market Rate Supplements following approval of an F2 Application form
    • Change of job description not effecting grade.

  • Follow this process, when increasing or decreasing a fractional teacher’s hours for 0.01 FTE or less per term.

F5 form flowchart: Termination of employment process

  • Follow this process when a fractional teacher resigns or retires from employment.
