Privately Rented Accommodation
Privately rented accommodation is available in all areas of London. Students interested in this type of accommodation can approach agencies who rent apartments direct, but the arrangements for this must be made by the students themselves.
The University of London Housing Services (ULHS), can also recommend agencies to students wishing to rent flats, houses, rooms and flatshares, but again, these arrangements must be made by the students themselves. The ULHS can also give advice regarding hostels and a range of other housing issues. (See the ULHS link below). Please note that leases are usually for a minimum period of 6 months
Price per week
The price of rented accommodation can vary a great deal depending on the agency used, and the location. Central London (Zone 1 on the Underground), is usually the most expensive, with Zone 2, areas further from the centre, being a little cheaper, and so on.
For a studio flat in central London you can expect to pay at least 320 GBP and for a one bedroom flat at least 363 GBP. Shared accommodation (i.e. flatshare) usually costs at least 150 GBP per week but can be much more if you choose to live in the centre. The price of rented accommodation can vary a great deal depending on the agency and the area. Zone 1 is usually the most expensive, zone 2 a little cheaper, and so on.
Please go to the University of London Accommodation website for a list of registered letting agents.
