Request

I would like to submit a Freedom of Information Request relating to specific a ICT contract(s) for:

Server and Virtualisation Software Support/Maintenance contract(s)-  Please can you send me the contract(s) separately and not a combined total value or number of suppliers. If there is more than one supplier for a particular contract please state which of these suppliers the main one is.

Infrastructure Server Farm

The Infrastructure Server Farm hosts SOAS’s Active Directory, Domain Services, File Servers and backend systems.

Contract Title: N/A
Existing/Current Supplier: Dell and MTI
Hardware Brand(s): Dell
Number of Users: All users have access to the network, approx. 4500 students, around 800 staff
Operating System (Platform) : Windows Server 2008 R2 and SUSE Linux
Total number of Servers (Standard): 4 production Dell PowerEdge R710
Number of Virtual Servers: (Virtual) 45
Total Contract Value: (For the whole duration of the contract, if the total value sent is per annum please state this in the response)

       Server cost £29,721 inc support ex VAT
       EMC VSphere License £1,237.50 per socket (2 sockets per server) = £9,900
       EMC maintenance £572.76 per socket (2 sockets per server) = £4,582

Therefore over 5 years this will cost £62,531

Corporate Systems Server Farm

The Corporate Systems Server Farm hosts our key databases and systems (Finance, Student Records, CMS, SharePoint, HR etc.)

Contract Title: N/A
Existing/Current Supplier: Dell and MTI
Hardware Brand(s): Dell
Number of Users: Impossible to accurately judge, assume all staff 800
Operating System (Platform) : Windows Server 2008 R2
Total number of Servers (Standard): 3 production Dell PowerEdge R710 (2 additional servers have been purchased). Outside of the server farm there are 39 physical servers that will be consolidated onto the 5 production servers when complete
Number of Virtual Servers: (Virtual) 17 currently, rising to around 56 when complete
Total Contract Value: (For the whole duration of the contract, if the total value sent is per annum please state this in the response)

       Server cost £37,151 inc support ex VAT
       EMC VSphere License £1,237.50 per socket (2 sockets per server) = £12,375
       EMC maintenance £572.76 per socket (2 sockets per server) = £5,727

Therefore over 5 years this will cost £78,161
