Visits to certain IP addresses

Request

The following information for the period from 00:00 on 23/04/2012 to 00:00 on 30/04/2012:

a. whether any internet content filtering systems were in use on your IT network and their nature,

b. to what extent HTTP requests from clients on the network were logged,

c. whether this network includes connections in student and/or staff accommodation,

d. the number of individual, unique users who accessed the internet through your IT network,

e. the number of individual, unique users who accessed each of the IP addresses below (hereafter
referred to as ‘the IP addresses’) during the given period,

g. the anonymised details of each log entry relating to a request made to the IP addresses, including the date and time of the request.

Response

a. There were no such systems in use.

b. They are logged by web proxies if the client is using the web proxies and by the Institutional Firewall if the client has unproxied internet access.

c. The network does not include connections in student or staff accommodation.

d. Accurate figures are not held by the School, but we estimate that there were approximately 2000 unique connections per day.
