1.) How many internships or work experience placements the university/institute is currently offering.
For each case, I would like to know:
which department of the university/institute the internship or placement is in
the intended duration of the internship or placement
whether the internship or placement will be paid and if so, what the pay will be
whether the internship or placement will cover expenses, and to what extent.
2.) How many people have done internships or work experience placements at the university/institute since 1st September 2011. For each case, I would like to know:
which department of the university/institute the internship or placement took place in
the duration of the internship or placement and the specific dates when it took place
whether the internship or placement was paid and if so, how much
whether expenses were covered for the internship or placement, and to what extent.
1.) SOAS is not offering any work experience placements as such, but will consider requests from individuals or institutions for placements. The Academic Development Directorate liaises with local authorities and schools and a small number of work experience placements are likely to be arranged through these relationships. Similarly, the Library and the Special Collections and Archives service occasionally accept applications for work placements from trainee archivists and librarians. None of these placements is paid (ordinarily no expenses are paid either). The Centre for Gender Studies recruits interns from the student population. These internships are again unpaid, but only involve around 20 hours’ work in a 6 month period. There is demand from students to provide them, and it would not be possible to do this on a paid basis.
