Disclosure date: 13 February 2014
Can you please say how many appeals were made by students against academic decisions (such as challenges to marks received in coursework, exams and other assessment methods) in your institution in 2012-13.
Please can you also provide details of the number of appeals against academic decisions in the previous two years (2010-12, 2011-12) respectively.
Students who question their marks are advised to contact the course convenor for informal feedback; neither the Registry nor the faculties keep a record of any information held about these meetings or the number of them that take place.
Formal appeals against academic judgements are not permitted under the School’s academic regulations. Therefore there is no information held in respect of this as the answer is zero.
Guidance on making appeals can be seen here: http://www.soas.ac.uk/exams/appeals/
