Muslims, Multiculturalism and Trust

This paper explores the mutually reinforcing dynamic that exists between political debate about multiculturalism, conventions of reporting in both electronic and print media, and deep-seated and often implicit assumptions about the contiguity of race and national belonging which are strongly held in Britain. It considers how certain issues acquire a Muslim frame such as terrorism, the mistreatment of women, and a perceived incompatibility with Western family values. In addition, I would like to engage with the philosophic notion of trust and how different communities might perceive Trust in the politics of multiculturalism?
