Elementary Amharic

A one-year course in elementary spoken and written Amharic

This course consists of two sessions of two hours per week. Terms are ten weeks long. Extramural students may apply for the first two terms, the third being reserved to SOAS students for pre-examination purposes.

Fees: The fee for each ten-week term is £590 payable in advance

Description

This course is taught by our colleagues in the Department of the Languages and Cultures of Africa where it is part of their degree programmes. You can take the course in non-accredited mode which means you attend the classes but your study does not count towards a degree.

Materials

Course materials are not included in the course fee and can be purchased from the SOAS bookshop bookshop@soas.ac.uk. You are advised not to purchase course materials until your course has been confirmed. Registered students will be informed as soon as the course has been confirmed by the Africa Department at SOAS.

Timetable

Classes will be held at the Bloomsbury or Kings Cross Campus of SOAS in central London on two afternoons/early evenings a week. Participants receive 40 hours of language tuition over a ten-week period per term, for both of the first two terms.
