Mode of Attendance: Part-time
A one-year weekday evening or Saturday daytime course in Modern Standard Arabic for beginner learners.
The course covers 3 terms to enable learners starting from complete beginner level to use Modern Standard Arabic within a limited range of everyday situations across the four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. The course teaches students to express themselves understandably at a basic level of communicative interaction and introduces them to the essentials of the Arabic writing system so that they can read and write basic words and sentences.
The course is taught in English and Arabic and includes coverage of the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing and a good balance between understanding the systems of Arabic grammar and vocabulary, developing the skills of comprehending and producing Arabic in speech and writing, guided practice in language usage and use and authentic communicative activities. Class size is limited to fifteen to allow intensive interactive practice with individual feedback and advice on progress.
