Description
The course is designed to shed light on the implications of Confucianism in modern times. The Analects will be used as the text to access Confucius and his ideas, but the focus of the course is to discuss the essence of Confucianism embodied in these texts and its relevance to our lives today.
The course will consist of lectures, discussions and workshops. The participants should have the ability to read 1,500 Chinese characters as the language of instruction and discussion is Chinese. Class size is normally limited to twenty.
Entry to the course is by assessment only. Applicants must contact the Language Centre to arrange for an assessment at least 3 weeks before the beginning of the term.
Fee for this Course
The fee for each twelve-week term is £350 payable in advance.

Classes may fill up quickly. In some cases, additional classes are set up. It is best to apply early in order to avoid disappointment.

SOAS Language Centre materials are provided.
Timetable
Participants receive 24 hours of tuition over each 12-week term. Classes will be held at the Bloomsbury or Kings Cross campuses of SOAS on one evening per week or Saturday daytime (with additional weeks where public holidays displace a class session). See our timetable pages for dates and times.
