Part of the range of Chinese language learning courses and activities at SOAS Language Centre
Duration:
This is a one-year course with three terms of twelve weeks.
Mode of Attendance: Part Time
Description
The course is aimed at advanced learners of Mandarin Chinese who have mastered a vocabulary of at least 1,500 characters. The course participants will be introduced to a variety of short stories written by famous Chinese writers from the 1920s, 1930s, 1950s and 1980s. The writers covered include Bing Xin, Lu Xun, Lao She, Xiao Hong, Zhao Shuli, Wang Meng and Zhang Xingxin.
The whole course is designed to run for three terms each consisting of 12 weeks. However, each term can also be taken as a stand-alone course. Every participant will give an oral presentation at the end of each term.
Class size is normally limited to fifteen to allow plenty of classroom interaction.
