This is a one-year course with three terms of ten weeks.

Description

This is an advanced Japanese course for learners who have reached the level equivalent to Level 1 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, with the emphasis on correct use of formal expressions and comprehending authentic materials such as newspapers and television broadcasts.

The course is taught in Japanese and includes coverage of the four skills of speaking,listening, reading and writing. Class size is normally limited to 15 to allow close involvement. The course covers current affairs in Japan and the UK, such as politics, business etc.

Classes may fill up quickly. In some cases, additional classes are set up. It is best to apply early in order to avoid disappointment.

Timetable

Classes will be held at the Bloomsbury or Kings Cross Campus of SOAS in central London on one evening a week or Saturday daytime. Participants receive 20 hours of language tuition over a ten-week period (with additional weeks where public holidays displace a class session). See our timetable pages.
