Intermediate Japanese

A one-year course in spoken and written Japanese at intermediate level

Description

This course at SOAS Language Centre in London aims to provide a continuation for learners who have completed the Lower Intermediate level (post Minna no Nihongo book 1 and 2), with knowledge of approximately 450+ kanji. Students will start using semi-authentic materials and work beyond sentence level to a variety of discourses in communicative Japanese.

Method

The course is taught in English and Japanese and includes coverage of the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing and a balance between communicative activities, structure practice and grammar. Class size is normally limited to fifteen to allow close involvement.

Timetable

Classes will be held at the Bloomsbury or Kings Cross Campus of SOAS in central London on one evening a week or Saturday daytime. Participants receive 20 hours of language tuition over a ten-week period (with additional weeks where public holidays displace a class session). For course dates and times see our timetable pages.
