Korean Advanced Course
A two-year course in advanced spoken & written Korean at SOAS Language Centre in London
Duration:
Two years of six ten-week terms.
Mode of Attendance: Part Time
Description
The course aims to cover spoken and written Korean at the advanced level over six 10-week terms. Advanced level vocabulary, reading and conversation are covered, with the accent on communication within a wide range of social and cultural topics. This course is a logical progression from our Korean upper intermediate level or a course of similar level.
Method
The course will cover practical and social topics in spoken and written language. For instance, understanding radio programmes, preparing for formal meetings, and making presentations, and other activities requiring the ability to hold a discussion in Korean. It covers speaking, listening, reading and some writing skills. Class time is divided between reading and listening practice and teacher led discussions. Class size is normally limited to fifteen to allow close involvement.
Entry Requirements
Entry to the course is by assessment only. Applicants must contact the Language Centre to arrange for an assessment at least 2 weeks before the beginning of the term.
Fees for this Course
The fee for each ten-week term is £270 payable in advance.
This course is subsidised by the Sejong Institute (Ministry of Culture, Republic of Korea) in order to encourage the learning and teaching of Korean worldwide, allowing us to set a lower fee. In order to obtain this fee subsidy we are required to forward your name to Sejong Institute in the Republic of Korea (thus outside of the EEA - European Economic Area). Only your name and the course title and dates will be forwarded, no other identifying data. If you agree to this please proceed to book a place on the course. If you do not agree to this do NOT book a subsidised fee place; contact us korean@soas.ac.uk to book a full-price place (£385 per term).
