Korean Accelerated Beginners Course
Duration: One-year course with 3 terms, 10 weeks per term, 4 hours per week
Mode of Attendance: Part-time
Fees: Course fees quoted are per term of 10 weeks.
This course is designed for complete beginners who want to progress swiftly with their study of Korean. The course contains 4 contact hours per week (two sessions twice a week), giving a total of 40 hours per term. It is expected that students will devote around 6 hours of self-study per week during term-time.
Over three terms, the course provides a thorough introduction to contemporary Korean, including the Korean writing system (Hangul) and how to read and write Korean. It covers basic grammar and essential vocabulary and the ability to communicate with confidence within a limited range of situations.
The course is taught in English and Korean and includes coverage of the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing and a good balance between understanding the systems of Korean grammar and vocabulary, developing the skills of comprehending and producing Korean in speech and writing, guided practice in language usage and use and authentic communicative activities. Class size is limited to fifteen to allow intensive interactive practice with individual feedback and advice on progress.
