A three-term course in spoken and written Urdu for those with existing language skills who wish to update and to progress their knowledge of the language
Fees: The fee for each ten-week term is £385 payable in advance
Description
The course is aimed at those who already possess a good working knowledge of Urdu, either through taking previous courses or through familiarity of the language as a community vernacular. The course aims to consolidate the student’s familiarity with spoken and written Urdu in a range of subject areas that are diverse in scope.
Method
The course focuses on the key areas of speaking, understanding, reading and writing. Contemporary material, such as newspaper articles and websites, will form the basis of generating discussions on various aspects of modern-day Urdu society and culture. Class size is normally limited to fifteen to allow for close involvement.

Application Procedures
Completed application forms together with the fee payment should be returned to SOAS Language Centre. Please note that classes may fill up quickly. In some cases, additional classes are set up; however it is best to apply early in order to avoid disappointment. Contact us for an application form or use our downloadable form.

Our course materials page shows you what you need to buy for this course. Course materials are not included in the course fee and can be purchased from the SOAS bookshop bookshop@soas.ac.uk. You are advised not to purchase course materials until your course has been confirmed.
Timetable
Classes will be held at the Bloomsbury or Kings Cross Campus of SOAS in central London on one evening a week. Per term, participants receive 20 hours of language tuition over a ten-week period (with additional weeks where public holidays displace a class session). See our timetable page.
