Teaching Chinese Tones -- William Yu
The purpose of this paper is to look at how Chinese tones can be taught to English speakers. Tones can be a problematic area so in this paper we will discuss the properties of tones and put forward the idea that they can be taught to English speakers by using some knowledge of intonation and stress patterns in English. Practice materials are provided at the end of the article.
