Research
The LEDC undertakes research in various areas of environmental law of contemporary relevance. LEDC research focuses in particular on topics of relevance to the South and to North-South relations:
- Biosafety: legal instruments for biosafety at the national and international levels, in particular concerning the development of instruments based on the precautionary principle. Liability regime at the international level and in individual countries.·
- Climate change: equity, relationship between natural resource management and climate change, Clean Development Mechanism.·
- Forests: governance, biodiversity, energy, forest users rights and trade.·
- Water: environment and human rights aspects of water at the international, regional and national levels; policy initiatives seeking to restructure the water sector that increasingly also include the restructuring of water-related legal frameworks.
