Description

Cambridge Histories Online (CHO) provides access to the complete Cambridge Histories series, and some titles in the New Cambridge Histories series, comprising 270 volumes in all, published since 1960 and covering over 15 different disciplines. 

Users can search and browse content. Users can also personalise the interface, save searches and track their most recent searches. They can create “workspaces” and bookmarks for their own material, and export citations.

Publication dates range from the 1960s to the New Cambridge History of Islam (2010).

Users may access, search and view individual chapters for personal use only. Print, copy and download permissions may vary from volume to volume depending on the sensitivity and rights available for the content. A legal database which Provides access to full text judgments from the Court of Appeal (Civil and Criminal Divisions) and the High Court of England and Wales . Provides Court of Appeal decisions from 1996 to present; all divisions of the High Court from July 1998 to present; searchable links to the House of Lords and Privy Council judgments from 1996 to present; and selected judgments from the European Court of Human Rights and the European Court of Justice. New transcripts are added every day.

Description

China Maxx is the European mirror site of Superstar Digital Library (超星数字图书馆). It is a full-text database of e-books purchased from China. Titles such as: 四库全书存目, 四库禁毁书丛刊，四库未收书刊辑 totalled 2,000 volumes,  are in the database. Four early twenty century periodicals such as 新青年 & 妇女杂志，are also included. Important Chinese culture and historical data, such as上海市文史资料，山东省文史资料 &  北京文史资料 in 1, 700 volumes together with over 200 volumes ebooks have been  purchased.

Currently the ebooks in this database are limited. They are organised into subject folders. They are searchable .

The Chinese Studies Online (CSO) is a package as well as a platform that enables searching multiple resources in one click. It focuses on a broad collection of Chinese studies materials. Among this package:

1. China Online Journals (COJ)(Arts/Humanities/Social Sciences)

Provides cover-to-cover display journals, allowing readers to browse each journal in the same manner as with print copies; covers from 1997 & update weekly.

Consists of theses and dissertations information from Taiwan higher education institutions after 2004.  At present, this database contains theses and dissertations mainly from Taiwan universities, including National Taiwan University, National Taipei University of Technology, Tapei National University of the Arts, National Tsing Hua University and National Taiwan Normal University,
with over 27,000 bibliographic citations and 16,500 theses in full text.  Subject coverage includes humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, applied sciences, medicine and life sciences.

Description
This resource comprises both the Digital Dictionary of Buddhism (DDB) and the CJKV-English dictionary (CJKV-E) for Sinitic characters and compounds related to East Asian cultural, political and intellectual history.

DDB is a compilation of Buddhist terms, texts, temples, schools and persons etc found in Buddhist canonical resources which began in print form in 1986 and migrated online in 1995. The initial focus was on East Asia, but it grew to include other Buddhist disciplines and texts. The website includes external links to other lexical, textual and bibliographic resources on Buddhism.

It is primarily aimed at professional researchers and scholars of Buddhism, but will be of use to anyone with an interest in the faith and its context. The resource was created by Professor Charles Muller, currently at the Graduate School of Humanities and Sociology, University of Tokyo.

Duxiu 读秀

Description

Duxiu is a huge content-based database composed of 600,000,000 full text pages, with very
flexible searches (full-text, books, articles, theses, web pages, newspapers).

Searching using the full text filter, you can read (and print) most articles. Sometimes there is
a limit of what you can access at one time, but you can follow up with searches for the words
at the end of those pages, etc.

Searching using the book title filter, you can read a limited number of pages directly on-line,
but in many cases you can then email to yourself 50 pages or 1/5th of the book (whichever is
less) at a time.

Some of the books can be purchased by the library for perpetual access; if you think we
should purchase a recent book as an e-book, please notify the China librarian. These will be
available from Chinamaxx.
