This page lists the databases available at SOAS, with titles beginning with the letters Q-S; for other databases use the letter navigation on the left or go to the A-Z database homepage

On-campus access is automatic for most databases; and many can be accessed off-campus using your SOAS id and password (the same as you use for SOAS e-mail and computers). Off-campus access is only available to SOAS students and staff; and is available only where there is a link for 'off-campus use'.

Access

Access is only available to SOAS staff and students and requires a SOAS id and password to login on or off-campus.

Description

The database from the Independent Local Radio Sharing Scheme (UK based), a database of material broadcast by local radio stations between the years 1983 and 1990. The database contains about 1120 sound recordings.

The audio files are in MP3 format, and can be played on most media players; free downloads of Windows Media Player or QuickTime are available. The files can be downloaded (for teaching, learning and research only).

Description

RILM Abstracts of Music Literature provides indexing and abstracts for scholarly music related material in over 100 languages. Covers over 500 scholarly journals. Also includes: books, bibliographies, catalogues, conference proceedings, discographies, dissertations, Festschriften, films, videos, concert reviews, recording notes, and pedagogical manuals.

Sage Journals Online provides access to 400 journals, with bibliographic information and abstracts. Full text access is only available for titles subscribed to by SOAS, around 20 titles.

Description

Siku Quanshu Wenyuange edition 1782 (The Complete Library of Four Treasures, 四庫全書) has been deemed as an essential resource for Chinese humanity studies. Initiated by Emperor Qianlong in the late 18th century, the project aimed to collect the most comprehensive information representing the major categories of traditional Chinese knowledge.
