This organization hosted by Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, aims to bring together scholars and professionals with an interest in Africa and also provides information to the Africanist community.
African Studies Center, University of Pennsylvania
Interdisciplinary program for undergraduate graduate students. Keeps abreast of current research, events and scholarship, and maintains a large network of Africanists who exchange information on courses and activities.
African Studies Program, Indiana University Bloomington
One of the leading centres in the United States for the interdisciplinary study of Africa.
African Union
Information about the African Union, including full-text documentation, treaties and press releases.
Afrika Studiecentrum, Leiden, Netherlands
The only resource and documentation centre in the Netherlands solely devoted to the study of Africa. Undertakes and promotes research and teaching plus the dissemination of knowledge and an understanding of African societies in the wider public sphere.
Association of African Universities (AAU)
The AAU provides a forum for the exchange of information and co-operation among Higher Education Institutions in Africa. It also hosts the Database of African Theses and Dissertations (DATAD). The database is searchable via author or keyword. All subjects within the social sciences, sciences and humanities are covered. The database requires user registration but citations may be viewed free of charge.
Botswana Institute for Development Policy Analysis (BIDPA)
BIDPA is a non-governmental research organization looking at development policy analysis and capacity building. Site includes downloadable publications.

Interdisciplinary emphasis for the study of Africa. Centre organises weekly seminars and regular international African Studies conference and publishes a series of occasional papers.
Centre of West African Studies, University of Birmingham
Centre for teaching and research on Africa. The only university department in the world to concentrate specifically on West Africa, although does cover the whole of Africa to a lesser extent.

Harriet Tubman's Resource Center on the African Diaspora
Digitalized research facility that focuses on the history of the African diaspora and the movement of Africans to various parts of the world, particularly the Americas and the Islamic lands of North Africa and the Middle East. The Tubman Centre is part of the Department of History, York University, and includes a digital library and repository.
Institut fur Afrika-Kunde
Institute of African Affairs at the German Overseas Institute, involved in research and documentation of contemporary political, economic, and social developments in Africa south of the Sahara.
Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS)
PLAAS undertakes research on land and agrarian reform, poverty and natural resource management in South and southern Africa. Site includes downloadable research reports and publications.
Integrated Regional Information Networks (IRIN),
part of UN OCHA Reports events on the ground in sub-Saharan Africa and Central Asia when crisis or disaster occurs. Focuses on strengthening universal access to timely, strategic and non-partisan information so as to enhance the capacity of the humanitarian community to understand, respond to and avert emergencies.
International Crisis Group

United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA)
Information on aspects of African development, including gender issues. The website hosts several publications, such as the annual Economic Report on Africa, and links to a number of related initiatives and sites.
United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA)
