Chinese Painting Database

A list of photographic archive of collections of Chinese painting in Japan and overseas, inventoried by the Institute of Oriental Culture at the University of Tokyo. All of the photographs used for the their publication Comprehensive Illustrated Catalog of Chinese Paintings (1980-2001). The photographic archive altogether includes some 200,000 items. The index can be searched by painter, subject, collection, and so forth, for now in both English and Japanese.

Palace Museum, Beijing

The Palace Museum, historically and artistically one of the most comprehensive Chinese museums, was established on the foundation of the palace and their collections of treasures. Designated by the State Council as one of China's foremost protected monuments in 1961, the Palace Museum was also made a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987.
