African Music Archive

Founded in 1991 at the Institute of Ethnology and African Studies, the Johannes Gutenberg-University, Mainz. Its main area is modern African music (mainly from Africa South of the Sahara).

Archive of World Music Collection at Harvard University

The Archive of World Music, a collection of the Loeb Music Library, was established in 1976 It is devoted to the acquisition of archival field recordings of musics world-wide as well as to commercial sound recordings, videos, and DVDs of ethnomusicological interest. It includes the Kay Kaufman Shelemay Collection of Ethiopic Musics, the Sema Vakf Collection of Turkish Classical Music (probably the largest outside of Turkey), and the Laura Boulton Collection of Byzantine and Eastern Orthodox Chant.

Archives of African and American Music and Culture

A centre devoted to the research and study of African American music and culture at Indiana University. Collections include audio and video recordings, photographs, original scores, and oral histories, among other artefacts and ephemera related to popular, religious, and art music, and black radio.

International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives

Established in 1969 to function as a medium for international co-operation between archives that preserve recorded sound and audiovisual documents. Links to other organisations and related subjects.

International Library of African Music at Rhodes University

A research institution devoted to the scientific study of African music and the oral arts in Africa. Includes online music, other African music sites, news, etc.
