Journal articles
Unless a journal article has been classed as an Offprint you will not be able to find details about specific journal articles on the Library catalogue.
If you know the title of the journal that the article was published in you may search for this on the Library catalogue. You will see a location screen which will tell you which years of the journal we have at SOAS and the location number (Per).
Finding journal articles by subject
If you would like to see what journal articles have been written either on a certain subject or by a certain author you will need to use a bibliography or index.
Bibliographies and indexes are lists of details about books and journal articles arranged according to subject. The Library has a number of bibliographies which are usually kept in the relevant reading rooms and many journals have their own indexes (will be shelved with the journal in question).
Many bibliographies and indexes are now available electronically which means that you can type in keywords or author's names and you will generate a list of journal articles which you can then e-mail to yourself, download, or print out.
Some journal articles are now available for you to read online as well via services such as EBSCOhost and JSTOR which the Library pays a subscription for. Please see Electronic Journals for more information.
