SCONUL Access

SCONUL Access provides borrowing privileges and reference access to more than 170 university libraries throughout the UK and Ireland.

If you wish to join one of the member libraries under this scheme please apply at the SOAS Library Membership Desk. You will need to complete an application form and be in good standing with SOAS Library (no unpaid fines or overdue books). You will be issued with a card which you should take to the Library you want to join, along with a valid SOAS id card.

Borrowing membership is available to:

  • Academic staff on open or fixed term contracts.
  • Postgraduate research students
  • Part-time and distance learning students
  • Full-time postgraduates

Reference only membership is available to:

  • Full-time undergraduate students

Please note: some neighbouring libraries of the University of London Colleges may not be participating fully in the scheme. It is important that you check details on the list of members before visiting. SOAS offers membership in Bands A, B and C.

The new scheme does not affect existing reciprocal arrangements in place between SOAS and other University of London Colleges.
