NegTyp: A Negation Questionnaire and Database
The NegTyp questionnaire and database are being developed as part of an ESRC/ELAP funded research project to gather information relevant to the encoding of negation cross-linguistically. One of the principle aims of the project is to create a fieldwork tool that is sensitive to both typological variation and the common properties of the category. This is complemented by a typological database, which is being designed to allow quantifiable cross-linguistic comparison across the data gathered over the course of the project.
The initial stages of this project were funded through an Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Postdoctoral Fellowship, award number: PTA-026-27-0883. The current stage is supported through a postdoctoral fellowship from the Endangered Languages Academic Programme (ELAP), part of the Hans Rausing Endangered Language Project.
