This one-day conference will bring together academics, policy-makers, politicians, journalists and civic organisations from both inside and outside of Iraq to examine the country’s experiences with democratic governance since the fall of the Baath regime in April 2003. The relationship between democracy and the country’s political, social and cultural trends will be explored from retrospective, current and prospective angles.
