SOAS presents unique Persian map collection for first time in UK

A collection of historical Persian maps donated to SOAS, University of London’s Centre for Iranian Studies at London Middle East Institute in 2013 will be displayed this month. This is also the first time the unique collection is being exhibited in the UK.

SOAS to host seminars on ISIS and ‘caliphate’ this month

SOAS, University of London will be hosting events on the latest crises in the Middle East, ISIS and the meaning of 'caliphate'. Leading scholars specialising on the Middle East across disciplines such as politics, history and gender studies will examine the historical roots of ‘caliphate’ in the region and critically address its ramifications for the region and the world at large this month.

SOAS academic presents new book on life and legacy of Khomeini

Professor Arshin Adib-Moghaddam has edited a new book on the late Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the man who led the 1979 Iranian Revolution, which resulted in his appointment as Iran’s Supreme Leader, a position he held until his death in 1989. The book has received favourable media coverage in Iran and beyond, most notably on the BBC Persian website.
