Teacher workshops
CETL held a number of workshops between 2007 and 2010 to allow teachers an arena to share good practice and also to problematise practice. Some of the workshops were run by teachers at SOAS, others were run by CETL teacher trainers.
- The Place of Grammar series
In these sessions we looked at visions of language according to the communicative approach and left time critical discussion and reflection. - Inspirational Teaching “Tools”
These workshops focussed on “teaching tools” as points of reference for approaches to language and learning. - Problematising practices and discourses with teaching lower levels
In these sessions we attempted to address and challenge the comments made by teachers such as “this wouldn’t work for beginners.” - Workshops from practice – Ideas and techniques
This was a series of miscellaneous workshops driven by largely by teacher requests and discussions and observations of classes in SOAS. Much of the focus was on “scaffolding” or the interim stage between acquiring and then producing language autonomously. - Specialist workshops for teachers and for the dissemination of expertise
This project enabled the organisation and running of a series of workshops for language teachers and the dissemination of the knowledge accumulated in them.
