The refusal letters issued by the Home Office offer detailed reasons for why a particular claim has been rejected. In this analysis of 24 such letters, Liza Schuster critically engages with some of the explicit and implicit presumptions revealed in these letters. She argues that much stricter standards are required in reaching such decisions, given the gravity of an erroneous decision.
