6. Hwimori
Hwimori = 12/8, fast. In different sanjo versions, hwimori appears in both 12/8 and 4/4 forms, the latter with an accent on the sixth quaver/eighth note, and the former - as here - dividing the measure into either four (12/8) or six (6/4) beats.
The increased pace means that the drum must soften strikes to ensure the zither is not drowned. This movement is based on a series of ostinato patterns that resolve onto a senza misura section coupled to a relaxed accompaniment that constantly reiterates the basic cycle.
