1. Rak Muqam: Muqaddima
Performed on the Diltar.
'Rak' is the first of the Muqam suites, the most commonly performed, and most widely known and loved. The unmetered opening section of the Muqam, the muqaddima, rises gradually in pitch and intensity, phrase by phrase, to an awaj (climaz) before descending again.
