The tabla drums with their unique melodic sound are the backbone of Classical Indian music, in particular Hindustani (Northern Indian) music. This course is an introduction to basic drumming techniques and rhythmic structures (taal) of Indian music, including both theoretical basics as well as hands-on drumming.
Suitable for beginners, instruments will be provided. With Sanju Sahai.
Sanju Sahai is one of the finest and most sought after Tabla players of his generation. He belongs to the Benares Gharana being the 6th generation of Tabla players in the family. He has accompanied many of India’s legendary musicians such as Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Amjad Ali Khan as well as collaborated with international artists from around the globe such as Michael Nyman, Patricia Rozario, Pete Lockett and Yair Dalal to name but a few.
