Course fees: £75 each (concs £55) or £135 (concs £110) for both sessions
Klezmer music, the vibrant, celebratory wedding music of the Jewish communities of Eastern Europe is loved and performed by many around the world today. This is a two-part course with consecutive sessions, which can be booked together or separately. The sessions will cover repertoire, context, modes, ornamentation, rhythm and style, including specialised aspects such as playing in the Meron (Chassidic) Style (session 1) or playing for a Dance party (session 2).
All instruments welcome (from grade3 up to advanced & professional), for players both new to klezmer or already experienced, and for dancers too!
Presented by the JMI KlezFest Caravan [website] and led by some of Britain’s most renowned and sought after klezmer performers and teachers. With Merlin Shepherd (clarinet), Ilana Cravitz (fiddle), Ros Hawley (clarinet), and Guy Schalom (percussion & dance).
