AHRC Research Centre for Cross-Cultural Music and Dance Performance
Project 1 facilitates collaborative research between performers, scholars, and postgraduate students within the three partner institutions and enhances the research component of performance programmes at SOAS/UniS/Roehampton.
Performer-Researchers are appointed either as ‘Performer A’ (normally resident outside the EU, and working full-time) or as ‘Performer B’ (normally resident within Britain or the EU).
Performer-researchers conduct collaborative research. Each performer-researcher has a SOAS/UniS/Roehampton counterpart to co-ordinate research.
Performers are expected to make audio and audio-visual recordings for CD and DVD projects, and to present their work. They may give performances as part of a concert series, in collaboration with students and additional performers from the local community. Performers are integrated into the postgraduate training programme, and some are involved in workshops and seminars. While based at SOAS, they work in the three partner institutions.
The project convenor is Keith Howard (kh@soas.ac.uk)
