SOAS celebrates partnership with MountCrest University

SOAS Director Baroness Valerie Amos and Registrar and Secretary (Chief Operating Officer) Paula Sanderson visited Ghana on 22nd - 25th January to celebrate the partnership between SOAS University of London and MountCrest University College (MCU). Baroness Amos led a programme of events that included a traditional Durbar, a panel discussion at the British Council in Accra and a celebration of SOAS' first partnership of this kind on the African continent.

Baroness Amos discussed the importance of global educational partnerships and their role in fostering socio-economic growth in Africa. She also spoke about the review of Africa at SOAS, the development of a new African and African Diaspora Studies Degree at SOAS and the range of SOAS research related to Africa.

SOAS alumni and regional stakeholders were in attendance, including former President of Ghana John Kofi Agyekum Kufuor KCB and Samia Nkrumah, a Ghanaian politician and chairperson of the Convention People's Party and SOAS alumna.
