World Harmony Run visits SOAS

12 October 2006

Runners taking part in the World Harmony Run visited SOAS on the final leg of a world tour that has seen them cover over 28,000 miles on 7 continents.

The Run is a global relay that seeks to promote international friendship and understanding. As a symbol of harmony, runners carry a flaming torch, passing it from hand to hand between members of thousands of local communities, travelling through over 70 nations around the globe.

SOAS Director and Principal, Professor Paul Webley, received the torch on the School steps and then invited the runners to join him in the SOAS Japanese Roof Garden, the theme of which is 'forgiveness', citing this as an important element of world harmony.
