Prof. Sreberny to head global media research body

Annabelle Sreberny, SOAS media and communications specialist, has been elected as the new President of the International Association for Media and Communication (IAMCR).
IAMCR is an NGO in special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. Its recent congress in Stockholm attracted over 1000 participants from 85 countries.
Prof. Sreberny holds the first chair in Media in the new Media and Film Studies programmes at SOAS.
Her research interests include mediated cultures in the Middle East (especially Iran), democracy and the Internet, and gender transnationalism.
