The School of Oriental and African Studies would like to invite applications for the following AHRC studentships commencing in October 2009:
Research Preparation Masters Studentship in Law
The SOAS Law Department studies the legal systems and legal challenges of the developing world in the context of human rights, international law, commercial law, private law and environmental law. The Department researches comparative law (centered on South, Central and East Asia, Africa, Islam and the Middle East), transnational, and international law offering a unique mix of subjects for postgraduate study relevant to the globalizing world of the 21st century. The AHRC studentship is for a Master’s in Law with a focus on the procedures and content of law
Doctoral Studentship in History of Art, Architecture and Design
The Studentship is for a research project with a focus on history of art, architecture, and design, theory and aesthetics of the visual arts, history of photography, and visual media. Research projects in cultural and gender studies, archaeology, or anthropology with a visual arts focus would also be eligible.
The studentships are for UK (fees and maintenance) and EU residents (fees only). Applicants should have applied for a place on a relevant Master’s or research degree at SOAS by 15 May 2009.
