Food Policy is 'top' journal in the field of Agricultural Economics

23 July 2010

The latest (2009) journal impact factors were published by Thomson Reuters in June. The Journal Impact Factor is a measure of the frequency with which the average article in a journal has been cited (in articles in the same or other journals) in a particular year. For example, the 2009 Impact Factor is citations received in 2009 to all articles published in 2008 and 2007, divided by the number of papers published in the journal in 2008 and 2007.

The impact factor for Food Policy, which is edited by CeDEP staff, rose to 1.606, confirming Food Policy's position (in impact factor terms) as the top journal in the field of agricultural economics. At the same time, the journal of Agrarian Change, edited by colleagues within SOAS Development Studies Department, saw its impact factor rise to 2.000.
