Launch of International Certificate in Inter-Mediterranean Studies

The School is happy to announce that once the various courses and programs of this project have gained Faculty approval we shall be proceeding towards a collaborative venture with the universities of Barcelona, Venice, Montpellier and Paris VIII called The euro-Mediterranean region: Sustainability between people and politics and for short EUMeS. See http://eu-mes.eu This is under the auspices of the European Union Lifelong Learning Programme 2007-13 ERASMUS CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT Project Code 510379-LLP-1-2010-IT-ERASMUS-ECDCE.
This project has been funded with support from the European Commission.
As the first part of this venture a joint certificate will be offered for next year and 10 SOAS students registered for one of the SOAS Middle East MA's will be admitted.
Starting in September 2011 SOAS will be offering 10 SOAS registered MA students the chance to receive an International Certificate in inter -Mediterranean Studies.
Awarded by the Universities of Barcelona, Venice Ca' Foscari, Paris VIII, Montpellier and SOAS in collaboration with the Universities of El Oued (Algeria), Rabat and Meknes (Morocco).
Spend 10 days financed by the European Commission at one of the partner universities attending workshops and seminars along with some of the 40 students selected by the partner institutions.
Spend up to three months as Erasmus Fellows at one of the partner universities attending courses, doing fieldwork or working on an MA dissertation under a system of co-supervision.
Select courses in Arabic, Turkish, Hebrew, French, Italian or Spanish as well as on-line modules.
