Good Governance in Africa: Scholars and Leaders Share Lessons in Mozambique
1 April 2011
Twenty-five policy makers, academics, civil society representatives and government officials from across Africa will meet in Maputo, Mozambique, from 03 to 08 April 2011 to explore the future of governance and development on the continent.
Called the Residential School in Mozambique, the event is being led by the Centre of African Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, in association with the Instituto de Estudos Sociais e Economicos (IESE) and with support from the Mo Ibrahim Foundation.
The annual Residential Schools in Africa programme is part of a larger partnership between SOAS, in particular its Centre of African Studies, and the Mo Ibrahim Foundation. The partnership aims to build skills, develop talent and enable Africans to improve the quality of governance in their countries.
This year, as part of the same programme, the Centre of African Studies at SOAS is also launching the Governance in Africa Conversations Series.
The series interviews some of the most important and inspired thinkers, policy makers and experts focusing on issues affecting governance in Africa. The programmes are produced as 30 minute programmes for radio stations in Africa.
The interviews are also available on DVD for libraries and academic institutions across the African continent, and can be accessed online at www.governanceinafrica.org
