FT Podcast on Bollywood feat. Prof. Rachel Dwyer
17 February 2012
Professor Rachel Dwyer of the Department of the Languages and Cultures of South Asia participated in a Financial Times podcast discussion, released this week. Hosted by Jan Dalley (Financial Times Arts Editor), and also featuring Prakash Bakrania of Reliance Entertainment, the podcast focussed on analysing the history and rise of this "famously prolific" industry. Emphasising the films' "difference", rather than indulging in judging them against the criteria of British or American cinema, the panelists speculated on the ongoing increase in the popularity of Hindi cinema abroad, and also offered some viewing tips for this year's upcoming releases.
