A new website launched this month for the Fair Trade, Employment and Poverty Reduction (FTEPR) Project, a four-year research project undertaken by academics from the Departments of Development Studies and Economics.

Led by Christopher Cramer, Deborah Johnston, Carlos Oya, John Sender, and Bernd Mueller, the project involves fieldwork in Ethiopia and Uganda and has been funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID).

Christopher Cramer said that the project will produce an unusually rich source of evidence to analyse the role of agricultural exports in improving the lives of poor rural people. “With the help of local researchers, we have already conducted large surveys in six research sites in each country, with further research planned throughout 2012. Our new project website shows detailed maps and photographs of the areas we are researching, as well as project publications and links,” Cramer said.

The project will result in the publication of policy briefs, working papers, a methodological guidebook, and articles in peer-reviewed journals.
