11 July 2012

Professor Naila Kabeer from the Department of Development Studies has participated in a debate organised by UNICEF's Innocenti Research Centre.

The debate focused on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which were adopted by the international development community at the start of the new millennium. The aim was to co-ordinate efforts to achieve certain concrete and internationally agreed goals by 2015.

Looking beyond 2015, panellists considered whether the focus should be on continuing work to deliver the current goals or whether a different agenda would be adopted.

Professor Kabeer was joined on the panel by Amina Az-Zubair, former Special Assistant to the Nigerian President on MDGs and Claire Melamed, Head of Growth, Poverty and Inequality Programme at ODI.
