Prof John Ashton CBE joins CISD

The Centre for International Studies and Diplomacy (CISD) at SOAS is delighted to announce the internationally renowned climate change policy expert Prof John Ashton CBE has joined as Professorial Research Associate.

Prof Ashton is a distinguished diplomat with more than 30 years’ experience in the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). He founded the FCO's Environment Policy Department and led the UK's diplomatic efforts on global climate change as the Foreign Secretary's Special Representative for Climate Change between 2006 and 2012.

Head of CISD Dr Dan Plesch commented: "As a world leading diplomat on climate change Professor Ashton will be a wonderful resource for academics and students alike. We are delighted he will be helping with our teaching and research in Global Energy and Climate Policy"

Prof Ashton will support the CISD's MSc in Global Energy and Climate Policy and will contribute to a growing research agenda in global climate change governance and advocacy.
