22 February 2013
Preparations are well under way for an international conference on The Political Economy of Agricultural Policy in Africa, to be held in Pretoria on March 18-20th 2013. The conference aims to showcase recent political economy analysis of agricultural policy in the continent and to draw lessons for policy making. It is being organised by Future Agricultures Consortium, in collaboration with the Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS) of the University of Western Cape, and will also feature work from several other research programmes. More than 130 academics, civil society representatives, policy makers and representatives of donor organisations, from across Africa, Europe and the US, are expected to attend the conference. CeDEP research fellow Colin Poulton is a member of the Organising Committee.
